SUSTAINABILITY

Climate change poses serious challenges to society. Built environment specialists are constantly presented with the challenge of creating durable built environments that respond to a changing ecosystem. Built environment specialists have a major role to play, given 75% of global energy consumption is produced by buildings and transportation.

To design buildings, neighbourhoods and cities to minimise pollution and carbon emissions. This involves using renewable energy sources, designing energy ef cient buildings and master plans that encourage vegetation and biodiversity.

New urban developments need to be designed with the ultimate aim of achieving carbon dioxide neutral environments and who’s operations and processes use ICT to its full capacity.
