SMART CITIES

It has been projected that by 2050, 66% of the world’s population will reside in cities. Cities will increasingly become the physical framework of society, the generator of civil values, the engine of the economy and the heart of culture, thus future challenges will be concentrated in cities. Integrated policies, processes and procedures will need to be enhanced to improved to the lives of people living in cities.

The smart city uses Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to enhance quality and performance of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens.
